Appearance and Style: His face is that of a handsome, blue eyed white boy with perfect skin, perfect teeth and pretty long lashes. His hair is golden blond, long, fluffy, and a bit wavy with a light feathery quality. But from the neck down Onez looks rather strange. His torso is mostly human shaped but covered in downy feathers of white, gold, and bronze. His arms are like bird legs, ending in bird talons for hands. He has huge wings sprouting from his back that can look either bronze or gold depending on how the light catches his feathers. His lower half is like that of a lion with a lion’s tail and digitigrade feet.

Backstory

Onez was created by a right wing hyper-conservative terrorist organization called The Restoration. He was the 26th attempt for their symbolic new creation and the only one that managed to breathe real air. With his strong psychic powers, The Restoration quickly began to use him to assassinate their enemies and left wing politicians and activists. Knowing nothing else, Onez carried out his orders. Until he met Sniper.

Sniper was a mute Canadian vigilante hypertech with cybernetic enhancements and skill for long ranged fighting. Sniper continually got in Onez’s way and soon they began to battle in closer and closer quarters. Sniper’s cybernetics stopped Onez from delving too deep into their mind but still they projected their surface thoughts to him. Soon the two were talking more than sparring and Sniper realized Onez was a kind soul, unaware of the evil he was being forced to commit. They became friends and Onez began to rebel against his orders. The Restoration argued about whether to euthanize their experiment that refused to comply or find a way to force him to comply.

They found a way to force him.

They created and implanted a device that would force him to blindly act on the orders to get rid of the vigilante once and for all.

Once the orders were complete, Onez woke up with a Sniper who was bleeding from all 7 orifices in their head, unconscious, possibly dead. Onez fled quickly finding a phone to call an ambulance and turn himself into the police.

Backstory

Ethan’s life before Jack was quite simple; born in a middle-class Indian family that had been in England for over two centuries, it was rather comfortable and his parents accepted his gender at a young age, allowing him on blockers and then testosterone some years later.

From a young age, he was fascinated by real-world mysteries and secret histories and this would eventually lead him into the world of Urban Exploration, joining a group of like-minded teens and young adults. It was during one of their dive into a ruined victorian house that the group found a strange ritual site, a covered mirror standing in the middle of a magical circle.

When they disturbed the site, they unleashed Jack-of-Smiles a once-powerful demon who had fed upon the death and pain caused by the outbreaks of tuberculosis in the Victorian era before being sealed away by some long dead and forgotten mystic. Intent on devouring the teenagers’ souls to regain his power and escape, Jack, begin afflicting them with sickness, they would have died but Ethan made a deal; He would willingly become Jack’s host if he allowed his friends to live.

Jack couldn’t pass such an opportunity and accepted the deal, unfortunately for him after his slumber he was too weakened to completely take over Ethan, and the two were stuck together. Alerted by the display of magical power the White Warden of Whitechapel came and discovered the situation, although he could heal the teens and remove their memories of the incident, he could not unbind Jack without killing Ethan, but he couldn’t allow Jack to be free.

The White Warden had only one choice; send the young boy to Ravenhold where hopefully he could learn to control Jack.

Backstory

While Caleb’s parents have never really hurt em, they are strict with Caleb’s presentation towards the outside world (appearance, clothing, grades, etc) and neglectful at home, often leaving Caleb to fend for emself. Caleb is also ostracized at school and has no friends, leaving em with no positive human connection and no one to reach out to. Ey didn’t want to exist anymore and but feared what might lie on the other side of Death. When ey found a relic of Enozi’s from amongst eir deceased grandparents stuff ey decided to attempt to summon “the Devouring Dark” and sacrifice eir soul to this entity that was quite neutral, neither benevolent nor malevolent. Enozi didn’t really take Caleb’s soul, instead just inhabiting eir body alongside em much to Caleb’s dismay.

Backstory

Angelo lived a fairly normal if privileged life. He has spent most of his life in Italy, attending private schools and living in slightly luxurious circumstances. His life got a little less charmed when he came out as trans and started puberty blockers. He faced a lot of bullying which only got worse when he wore dresses despite “insisting he was a boy”. His parents were supportive but still too absent to notice anything wrong. They only noticed when he started to gain a little weight because he became less active. They made some passive aggressive comments which led to his development of an ED. Because his grades and physical skills were always average he placed a lot of self worth on his appearance and his parents’ mindless comments only made it worse.

Angelo developed his powers when some bullies threw his things up in a tall tree and he climbed up to get it. He ended up falling and his powers activated, saving him from getting hurt.

Backstory

Thor’s childhood was happy if a tad lonely. His family was quite well off due to his mother’s work. So well off that his father retired as a professor only a few short years after he achieved his professor ship, which happened to be a few short years after Thor was born. Thor’s parents had him slightly later in life. His father is already past middle age now. His father was never strict growing up, as a father or as a teacher. Thor was home schooled in the middle of nowhere in the wilderness of the Northeastern states and grew up rather far from other kids, most of his outside interaction being online. His mother wasn’t around much and felt much more like a distant relative that popped in once in a while.

One day, Thor’s mother and some of her coworkers went to her personal lab, the place she spent all her time when she was home, bringing with them one of the subjects they were studying. The subject was thought to have died in its containment and she wanted to use new equipment she was experimenting with at home to understand what happened. Thor had, as usual, snuck into her lab to watch her work.

The subject was only playing dead.

It took the chance to slip out of its containment once it was a decent distance from the government facility. Unfortunately for the subject, it had been too altered and destabilized from the frequent experiments conducted on it that it could not exist outside of a body or its specialized containment. It needed to possess someone. It consistently failed to penetrate the minds of the scientists, but the normal teenage boy snooping around in the shadows was easy pickings. It managed to possess him easily but was unable to fully take him over. And so Thor and Bastard’s unwilling partnership began.

Backstory

Mitch had a fairly happy childhood and was a popular leader amongst the cape kids. He could be a naughty prankster at times but was ultimately a good kid. When his father died, he withdrew into himself a little bit, stopped leading the cape kids around and started following instead. And when his mother and sister died, he nearly disappeared from the cape kid circle entirely.

It was then that he met Credence.

Credence was a friend of his older sister and a Ravenhold dropout who had fought in the Tzari war. Credence also lost his hero uncle and civilian parents during Origin’s reign of terror, almost losing his life to the villain himself. Credence watched many friends die in the Tzari war as well. The two comforted each other in their grief, rage, and loneliness, eventually getting together romantically. As they became more deeply entwined in each other’s life Credence’s deeper rage began to infect Mitch.

Credence couldn’t stand what superhero society and Ravenhold did to the two of them. Misleading people with the pageantry of heroes vs villains, leaving them utterly unprepared for threats like Origin or the Tzari invaders. And when Ravenhold turned around only a few years after the Tzari slaughtered their students and graduates and accepted one into the academy, Credence convinced Mitch to apply to Ravenhold and prepare to take it down from the inside. Mitch’s anger with Ravenhold and hero society had caused him to withdraw completely from his group of cape kid friends, but now he will reconnect at Ravenhold.

Backstory

For most of Sirius’s childhood he was raised by an abusive single mother. She would beat him and even put out her cigarettes on his body. One day, when he was 12 she was preparing to put out a cigarette in his eye and as he watched the glowing red come closer to his eyeball he suddenly awakened to his powers. Everything around him burned to ashes, the cigarette, the dirty one room apartment covered in trash, and his mother. Following that he was put into foster care and quickly became known as a problem child. He would get into fights, even using his powers against other teenagers. He would sleep around with almost anyone. And he would set fire after fire after fire just to see the world burn. He bounced between foster homes, mental health institutions, and juvenile correction facilities for years. A few months prior to the beginning of the story his biological father was found and learned of his existence. He took him into his middle class suburban home with his wife and two young daughters. Sirius’s issues were far from solved and he continued his behaviors of starting fights, sleeping around, and setting fires, though he did take being a big brother seriously and started looking after his little sisters.

One day, like any other day, he set fire to an empty abandoned building. It was not the first building Sirius burned. But unfortunately it wasn’t truly empty. A pair of little kids were playing inside. Sirius didn’t know at all, only learning later when he was watching the news at home that a little girl had perished in the fire and that her brother was severely burned and in danger of losing his life as well. 

Without a word to his family, Sirius left immediately and turned himself in. He went back to juvie but this time he was offered the chance to attend Ravenhold and make something of himself. At first he planned to refuse, but when he thought of the girl and of his sisters he decided that maybe it would be the only way to repent by saving lives in the future.

  • Sirius had his dad give all the money stowed away in his room to the family of the little boy and girl
  • Sirius plans to give a lot of his money from being a hero to the boy he survived
  • Sirius’s sisters have attempted increasingly elaborate pranks to steal his cigarettes so he stops smoking

Her freshman high school class was terrible and bullied her horribly, ultimately culminating in them getting her drunk at a party she had sneaked out to go to and uploading a video online of her drunk and getting molested. This all culminated in a suicide attempt. Thankfully she was found in time and saved, she spent a year in a mental health facility and came back to a different school. Currently a senior. The younger two are twins Sophia and Eleanor. Sophia died of cancer many years ago. Eleanor has recently been diagnosed with the same type of cancer. Eleanor is 13

Backstory

Nathan was born deaf and the middle child in a family of all “girls”. His mother had married Nathan’s father who she met while he was studying abroad in Korea. She never went to college and got married quite young, following her husband back to America. Unfortunately, he became dissatisfied when she had girl after girl especially when their eldest was autistic and their third was deaf. He eventually left not too long after the youngest twins were born. Even after Sophia got sick he barely came around, leading to the siblings going no contact. Unfortunately due to Nathan’s mother not being college educated and having a heavy accent she had a hard time finding a better job than working at a local grocery. With just that and the child support paid by Nathan’s father the family is rather poor. 

Sophia died when Nathan was 10 and the twins were 7. He came out as trans when he was 12. He thought his strict mother wouldn’t be able to accept it but to his surprise he was immediately raised to the status of “beloved only son” in her heart. Unfortunately later that year was Mariah’s suicide attempt. 

Around a year ago Nathan was exploring the edge of some woods outside of his hometown with his little sister Ellie when a meteor struck the Earth not too far away. Nathan and Ellie approached the crater. Nathan stopped his sister from getting too close and got closer on his own. In the crater was a shard of the Iapetus Meteor that fused with him, giving him his powers. Like the other meteor children he was taken to a secure location to be observed and trained to control his powers. There he became good friends with all of them, especially Svar. He came to view them as his family. During his time with the Meteor Children, Ellie was diagnosed with cancer.

Appearance and Style: Tommy is a short but well-built boy. He has warm-toned dark skin, gray eyes, and black hair usually kept short and sometimes held down by a bandana. Backstory

In another universe, Tommy would’ve been an ordinary kid, living with his family a happy life in Los Angeles’ Chinatown. But then a supervillain bomb exploded taking half the neighborhood and only he survived in his family. Unable to find any next of kin Tommy was put into the foster system.

Unable to grieve and lost in a world he barely understood Tommy became an angry child so he took to running away, he got caught, so he ran away again, he got caught again but after longer. As he run away time and time again he got better at it. As Tommy spent time on the street he decided to stop being a girl, he never cared for it, and eventually he would come to feel that being a boy was right, it was then that he took his new name of Tommy.

After yet another escape, Tommy met with Jordan Vo, a 14 years old boy who was affiliated with the ZAN Kings gang, he brought Tommy under his wing, helped him evade police, and would get him his first job with the gang; running messages, parcels, and standing watch for cops while older members of the gang dealt drugs or committed robberies.

Tommy and Jordan became brothers of sorts living together in an abandoned squat, and Jordan would eventually learn Tommy’s secret but kept it. However, puberty would come and Tommy’s secret was no longer so secret. Girls were treated differently in the Kings, it was a macho millieu after all. But Tommy fought and kept steady, he was badly beaten up many times for it. So he got tougher, he learned to fight and defend himself.

It was during a fight that his powers manifested and he duplicated for the first time. This changed everything; Tommy was no longer just some dumb girl who didn’t know her place, he was an asset. He came under the protection of Uncle Ngo who mentored him. As he grew to master his power and get stronger, Tommy got his payback, he fought everyone who’d bullied them and made them take it back, acknowledge him as male, if they didn’t he beat them senseless until they broke.

Tommy earned a reputation for his strength, bravery, and savagery in a fight, he got illegal testosterone shots, and he became a top star in the Kings. This was the high point of his life.

And then he took the fall for one of his fellows, he hadn’t done it, but they followed on law; the Omerta. So Tommy did the time, one year in juvie. So he did the time, he was a model inmate for six months to secure his early release. It was then that he was assigned a new group of foster parents but these were different; two Itharii had volunteered to take his case.

Tommy didn’t think much and ditched them the first chance he had. However, trouble came soon when it came to light that Jordan had turned and become a police informant. Everyone knew he and Tommy were thick as thieves so Uncle Ngo gave him a pistol and told him to kill Jordan.

But Tommy couldn’t. He betrayed everything he’d believed and worked for since he was nine. When the dust cleared Tommy was back in custody and Jordan was headed to witsec. But a way out was offered to Tommy; Ravenhold Academy. Without anything left, he took the chance.

Backstory

Not long after her birth, Penny was put into foster care by an anonymous mother, she was picked by the Henry family who fell in love with the little baby girl, whom they would eventually adopt permanently. Penny was discovered to be Deaf at a young age and following their doctor’s advice Penny received a cochlear implant, although the Henrys also studied on ASL to make their daughter as comfortable as possible.

Penny grew up to be a rather ordinary if hyperactive and curious girl. When she was seven however she manifested as a hypertech seemingly out of nowhere due to the anxiety of end-of-year exams, doctors speculated her mother must have also been a mutant but the information was confidential. The next big upheaval came a few years later when it was discovered Penny was actually intersex, a fact that’s always caused her great anxiety.

Penny’s life continued somewhat ordinarily, Penny however gained a reputation for being a lazy overachiever; her powers made it easy for her to retain information and do a lot of things, making her poorly motivated as she never experienced a true challenge. This was when her to gardening as a hobby. Penny gave it the usual effort, only for all of her plants to die. This shocked Penny who had never really failed at anything, so she read up everything she could on plant biology and care, she tried again with renewed care and passion. Over time her garden became her greatest pride.

Penny experienced tragedy when her mother died in a mugging gone wrong when she was 13. Penny grieved hard and turned deeper into religion to cope with her mother’s loss. However the next big tragedy in her life happened only a few months ago; when out shopping with her best friend Matilda the two were caught in a neo-nazi gang drive-by, Penny was unhurt but Matilda was shot in the spine, permanently losing the ability to walk.

This angered Penny deeply, she felt the law was moving far too slow to catch the perpetrators, the local sheriff’s office being overwhelmed and outgunned and waiting for state troopers. So Penny took matters into her own hands; she build a bulletproof costume, two hypertech revolvers, and went to town on the gang’s country home, shooting them with non-lethal rounds until they got the message to stay down.

The house had been under surveillance and the police came soon. Penny surrendered voluntarily and confessed to what she’d done. Thankfully for her, a Southern Hero heard of her action and offered for her to channel her energies at Ravenhold.
